Urgent Repair Program

Urgent Repair Program

City of Sanford

The City of Sanford is soliciting applicants for the 2016 Urgent Repair Program (URP), financed with $100,000 from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) and a local match of $10,000.  Applicants must be very low income homeowners whose homes need rehabilitation and who reside in Lee County. The homeowner must be the occupant of the home and must meet the income requirements described below.  In addition, special needs should be met by the applicant; elderly, disabled, large family, veteran, single parent or large family, (five or more).

** If you have already received an application package, or applied, during 2017 you do not need to call or submit a new one.

This program will address approximately 14 housing units but at least 7 of these should come from the very low income limits described below.

Eligible households must be low income (see chart below), owner-occupied, and have housing conditions of an emergency nature that affect the life, health or safety of the occupants. Sanford will determine if the income requirements of the household and the needed renovations to the property qualify for the program.  The City will receive applications through May 4, 2017, and may reopen the application period later if not enough initial applicants qualify for the program.

For more information and an application form, you may contact Karen Kennedy, Sanford/Lee County Community Development Department at 919-718-4657 Ext # 5391.  Applications shall be completed and returned to the Sanford/Lee County Community Development office no later than 5:00 pm, May 4, 2017.
