Disk Cleanup

    1)   Close all running programs

    2)   Go to Start

    3)   Programs

    4)   Accessories

    5)   System Tools

    6)   Disk Cleanup

    7)    Select the C: drive to cleanup

    8)    A screen will appear with all files that can be deleted from your PC, select OK

    9)    Select Yes to confirm that you wish to delete these files

Disk Cleanup helps free up space on your hard drive. Disk Cleanup searches your drive, and then shows you temporary files, Internet cache files, and unnecessary program files that you can safely delete. You can direct Disk Cleanup to delete some or all of those files.
Disk Defragmenter

    1)  Close all running programs

     2)  Go to Start

     3)  Programs

            1)    Accessories

            2)    System Tools

            3)    Disk Defragmenter

            4)    Select the c: drive to defragment

            5)    Click OK and go to lunch

            6)    When the defragmenter is finished, it will report the status of its work.

When files are saved, copied, or written to a new hard disk, the operating system saves the files in sequential areas on the disk called sectors. Files stored in sequential sectors can be quickly retrieved. When a file can't be stored in sequential sectors, the file becomes "fragmented", and the operating system takes longer to retrieve the file.
