Amendment to Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)
Any person desiring to make changes to the standards as set forth in the Sanford-Broadway-Lee County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) shall complete a petition. Upon receipt of a completed application, the proposed amendment will be placed on the next available agenda of the Joint Planning Commission (JPC), an advisory board the consists of a mix of elected officials and planning board members with equal representations from the City of Sanford, Lee County and the Town of Broadway. The JPC will review the proposed change and make a recommendation. If the board votes in support of the amendment, staff will then take the item to the three respective jurisdictions for formal consideration. This will include a public hearing and review by each planning board, prior to a final decision by each respective governing body (see flow chart below). Also, please note that the application fee is not required unless or until the Joint Planning Commission votes to support the proposed amendment (no fee for their review and action).
