Hazard Mitigation Plan

 

The Lee County Hazard Mitigation Plan is a partnership effort between Lee County, the City of Sanford, and the Town of Broadway to increase the awareness that natural and man-made hazards may affect people in Lee County. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is intended to improve the County’s ability to deal with disasters and describes valuable local knowledge on the most efficient and effective ways to reduce losses.   

The Lee County Hazard Mitigation Plan:

·        Identifies potential hazards that could affect the citizens of Lee County.

·        Provides maps that identify vulnerable areas and demographics.

·        Establishes the County’s commitment to mitigation goals, objectives, policies, and programs.

·        Guides the implementation of goals and policies as it educates the community.

Satisfies the statutory requirements imposed on local governments, reinforcing the importance of pre-disaster mitigation planning.
