Water Reclamation Facility

Goal

The goal of the Water Reclamation Facility is to provide county wide treatment of residential and commercial wastewater to ensure compliance with the changing environmental regulations.

Facility Overview

The Water Reclamation Facility has a permitted capacity of 12 million gallons per day. The plant is an advanced treatment facility with:
  • Aeration tanks
  • Chlorination and dechlorination systems
  • clarifiers
  • Filters
  • Pretreatment facilities
  • Solids handling facility
  • State-certified laboratory

Treatment Process

The treated wastewater discharges through an outfall pipe into the Deep River near Cumnock. The solids are removed from the wastewater and are applied to permitted farmland in Lee County and surrounding areas. The solids provide moisture, nutrients, and conditioning to the soil for farmers.
