The Communications Division of The Sanford Police Department provides Enhanced 9-1-1 for the citizens of Sanford and Lee County, North Carolina.

Telecommunicators
The telecommunicators work 12-hour rotating shifts. Shift schedules are:
- 4 days on (6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.)
- Off for 4 days
- 4 nights on (6:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)
- Off for 4 days, then returning to day shift

The Communications Division also provides dispatch of the following:

- Central Carolina Advanced Life Support
- Deep River Fire Department
- Lee County Emergency Management
- Lee County Fire Marshall
- Lemon Springs Fire Department
- Northview Fire Department

- Tramway Rural Fire Department
