New Streets within Developments in Sanford

Street Cross-Sections and Technical Specifications

Typical street cross-sections and other technical specifications for new public streets intended for maintenance by the City of Sanford as well as information and technical standards for all public utilities (water & sewer mains), can be found on the Public Works Department's webpage.

Street Names

Project managers or development representatives are required to submit a Street Name Request Form with the top three choices for a name for each new street associated with their approved development. An overall site plan/street layout map with easily identified streets (labeled as "Street A," "Street B", etc.) should also be included with a street name request.

Street names must be reviewed and approved by Lee County GIS/Strategic Services before being assigned to a proposed new street, and that GIS-approved street name must be included on any recorded final plat associated with a new development.

Please submit a completed Street Name Request Form and correlating street network map to Angela Wood with Lee County GIS via email at: awood@leecountync.gov.

Street Markers/Signs

Once street names are approved, project representatives must submit a Street Marker Request to the Transportation Division of the Sanford Public Works Department along with the appropriate payment to cover the cost of the street signs. A receipt from the City's Public Works Department must be provided to Community Development staff as proof of application and payment for street markers associated with any new development.
