The City of Sanford has celebrated National Night Out on the first Tuesday of August since 1993 -- until this year. Following the advice and guidance of the National Association of Town Watch, which manages the national NNO program, the City of Sanford has changed its 2020 date to the first Tuesday in October.
National Night Out (NNO) is a community police partnership that aims to:
NNO provides an excellent opportunity for neighborhoods to meet and get to know their elected and city officials, fire fighters, local police officers, and neighbors.
The City of Sanford has participated in National Night Out since 1993. Each year, the City has won the NNO National Award for recognition of outstanding participation in America’s Night Out Against Crime. In 2017, our program placed first in the nation for our population size and first in the state across all population sizes.
The City of Sanford provides themed materials such as hats, t-shirts, fans, etc for registered NNO events located within the city limits. To be notified when registration opens for 2020, subscribe to our "City Newsletter" list in our alerts and notifications page.
