Free Masks Now Available to the Public
On June 24, Gov. Roy Cooper announced Executive Order 147
, which extends Phase 2 of North Carolina’s reopening schedule. The order also makes it mandatory for North Carolinians to wear a mask in public places. More information about the Executive Order is available in this FAQ document.To reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and help local residents comply with Gov. Roy Cooper's mandate that masks be worn in public, free masks are now available to the public.
Mayor Chet Mann hopes greater availability of masks will help Sanford reduce the spread of the virus. “We can work together to slow down the spread of COVID-19 by doing something as simple as wearing a mask,” Mann says.
Mann has made 2,000 masks available for personal use through the United States Conference of Mayors’
Masks for Mayors program, which is aimed at helping communities slow the spread of coronavirus. The program is possible thanks to a partnership with Bella+Canvas
Making masks available to everyone is also part of the #SafeSanfordNC initiative spearheaded by the Sanford Area Growth Alliance; Downtown Sanford, Inc.; and the Visit Sanford TDA to guide businesses in reopening with customer and employee safety in mind.
