Dedication of 'Trains in Downtown' Public Art Installation on Thursday

The City of Sanford’s Appearance Commission will hold a dedication for Sanford’s newest public art installation on Thursday at Depot Park starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Commission has placed 12 miniature bronze replicas of Sanford’s beloved Number 12 engine around downtown Sanford. There is also a passport book to use as a guide to find the trains. Once complete, the passports can be turned back in for a prize.

The dedication will feature refreshments and music. Explorers can pick up their passports along with free train whistles and an engineer’s hat. After the event, passports can be picked up at 115 Chatham Street or downloaded from our website.

The Commission is also raffling a miniature bronze replica of Number 12. Tickets are $20 and will benefit future public art initiatives. The drawing will be held during the dedication, but entrants do not need to be present to win.
