Lee County Health Department Cancels Aerial Spraying for Mosquitos*
At their regularly scheduled meeting tonight, the Lee County Board of Commissioners canceled plans to complete aerial spraying to combat mosquitoes that had been scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, October 16.
Commissioners cited public concerns over aerial spraying and changing weather conditions to support their decision to cancel aerial spraying plans. The cooler weather pattern has helped to decrease the mosquito population.
The Board of County Commissioners has asked the Health Department to consider alternate mosquito abatement plans including the possible purchase of equipment that would offer more localized and targeted abatement strategies.
