Kiwanis Family Park Splash Pad Groundbreaking
The City of Sanford will
break ground on the Kiwanis Family Park Splash Pad on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11:00 a.m.
This project is a collaborative effort by the City of Sanford and Lee County Government to provide updated amenities, increase walkability throughout Sanford, and revitalize our neighborhoods.
Lee County donated 14 acres of land at Kiwanis Family Park for redevelopment. The renovated park will include a new playground, a walking trail, a new shelter, public art, updated restrooms, and an expanded parking area along with the new splash pad.
The project was funded with the $2 million Parks and Recreational bonds approved by voters in the 2013 Bond Referendum. An additional $350,000 was provided by a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant.
The upgraded park is anticipated to open to the community in the summer of 2019.
