City of Sanford to Operate on a 2-Hour Delay


The City of Sanford's administrative offices will operate on a 2-hour delay for Monday, December 10 due to the winter weather affecting our area.

Waste Industries has reported that trash/recycling pickup will operate tomorrow. Crews will start their routes at daylight to ensure their safety.

City Hall Closed Thursday


City Hall will be closed for two hours on Thursday, December 13 for the annual Service Awards luncheon. 

Entrance to the building will close at 11:00 a.m. and will re-open at 1:00 p.m. 

The Sanford Police Department will operate on a regular schedule.

Public Meeting for Carthage Street Improvements


The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public drop-in meeting at the Elks Lodge on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

The purpose of this meeting is to present proposed improvements to Carthage Street between Fire Tower Road and Wicker Street. Representatives will gather input on the proposed project before plans are finalized. It will be held in an open house format with attendees welcome to drop by at any time.

Maps showing the preliminary design for the project will be available for review at the meeting. Copies of the project’s State Environmental Assessment/Finding of No Significant Impact (SEA/FONSI) will also be available for review at the meeting.

Santa to Visit City Hall


Santa Claus and his elves will be in the lobby of City Hall on Friday, December 14 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. to visit with everyone who stops in.

Bring a camera to snap photos and make sure to bring your wish lists!

This event is free and open to the public.
