Sanford Block Party Targets Temple Ballpark Area

The annual Sanford Block Party is scheduled for April 27 this year and will focus on the area around Temple Ballpark in East Sanford, including sections of Maple Avenue, Eighth Street, Charlotte Avenue and McIver Street, all between Seventh and Ninth streets.

Led by host churches Jonesboro United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, the block party brings together elected officials, municipal staff, civic groups, and other volunteers to spend the day sprucing up the neighborhood, including landscaping, light painting, and light construction where needed.

The Sanford Block Party will begin at 8:00 a.m. with registration and free breakfast. Lunch and entertainment will be provided around 1:00 p.m. Most work assignments will be completed by 3:00 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to volunteer, whether as an individual or with a group. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own tools, including rakes, shovels, painting tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, gloves, etc.

This is the 9th annual Sanford Block Party. Previous clean-ups were on Charlotte Avenue, McIver Street, Maple Avenue, Hawkins Avenue, Steele Street, Woodland Avenue, McIntosh Street, and the W.B. Wicker School area.
