Every household receives one 96-gallon trash cart as part of their solid waste fee. Waste is picked up weekly by GFL Environmental. Find your home’s weekly pickup day here.

If your home produces more waste than the 96-gallon cart will hold, you can request additional waste carts from GFL. There is an additional charge per extra cart.

If your home produces more recycling than the 96-gallon cart will hold, you can request an additional recycling cart from the City of Sanford.

The City of Sanford contracts with GFL Environmental for recycling services. GFL uses single-stream recycling, which allows residents to put all their recycling in a single container that is then transferred to a recycling center and separated by a team of specialists.
