Sanford 101

The City of Sanford offers a yearly educational program to help people who live and/or work in Sanford/Lee County better understand the municipal decision-making process.

Since its inception, nearly 80 individuals have graduated from the program.
Sanford 101

Called Sanford 101*, the program runs on Tuesday mornings from February through May in odd-numbered years and on Monday evenings from July through October in even-numbered years.

Each week will feature a different department, including police, fire, and the Sanford Municipal Golf Course. Some standout sessions include trips to the Raleigh Exec Jetport, Cape Fear River, and Central Carolina Enterprise Park.

Graduates are prepared and encouraged to be more engaged in local government at all levels. They often go on to serve on municipal boards and commissions or otherwise become more involved in public service.

Each session is limited to 12 participants. Preference will be given to registrants who live within Sanford's city limits.

Registration

Registration has closed for the 2023 session. Registration for 2024 will begin in early June 2024.
