Juneteenth Concert

The City of Sanford Appearance Commission invites the community to an evening of performances that explore the impact of slavery while celebrating the fight for freedom. All ages are welcome!

Juneteenth is a federal holiday that commemorates June 19, 1865 – the day when Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. Juneteenth has been celebrated in Texas since 1866 but only became a national holiday in 2021.

Cost: Free

Program:

The Community Fellowship Choir, comprised of local singers from across the Sanford community, will begin the program.

The North Carolina Central University Jazz Collective will perform several jazz standards from notable Black musicians through the decades.

Rod Brower and the Together-N-Unity Choir will perform original music written specifically for Sanford's Juneteenth celebration.
