Fire Department

The Sanford Fire Department is manned 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The Department protects around 30,000 people and its jurisdiction covers 26.48 square miles.

In charge of the Department is the Chief Matthew Arnold, whose office is located in Station 3. Chief Arnold works a day shift, and is assisted by an administrative assistant. Assisting the Chief with the protection of Sanford is a full-time membership of 53 employees and 3 stations.

  • Central Fire Station 1: Is the home of Engine 1 and Ladder 1. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift. The Deputy Chief, Operations Battalion Chief, and Training and Standards Battalion Chief are located at this station.

  • Fire Station 2: Is the home of Engine 2. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift.

  • Fire Station 3: Is the home Engine 3. There are 3, 24-hour shifts at the station with 5 personnel assigned to each shift and the Fire Inspectors' offices. This is also the administrative office with the Fire Chief and the administrative assistant located here with office hours 8-5, Monday-Friday.
