Human Resources

The City of Sanford Human Resources Department has three employees who oversee and coordinate the human resources programs and services for City employees.

Responsibilities include:
  • The recruitment and selection of City employees
  • New employee orientation, training and career development
  • Employee recognition
  • Employee health and wellness programs
  • Employee benefit programs
  • Personnel policy development and administration
  • Position classification
  • Wage and salary administration
  • Employee relations
  • Personnel records management
Human Resources is also responsible for overseeing risk management functions.


The mission of the Human Resources Department is to support the goals and challenges of the City of Sanford by providing services which promote a work environment that is characterized by fair treatment of staff, open communications, personal accountability, trust and mutual respect. We will seek and provide solutions to workplace challenges that support and optimize the operating principles of the City.


The Human Resources Department is located on the second floor of Sanford City Hall at 225 East Weatherspoon Street.
