Zoning & Design Review

The Zoning and Design Review Division provides land use administration for the City of Sanford, Lee County and the Town of Broadway. Our primary responsibilities include the administration of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). More specifically, our office is responsible for:

  • Review and processing of all site plans for new construction as needed for compliance with zoning standards
  • Review and processing of all proposed subdivisions of land
  • Review and processing of all requests for amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)
  • Review and processing of all applications for Board of Adjustment (variances, special use permits, appeals and/or interpretations)
  • Review and approval of sign permits, temporary use permits and other similar land use permits

Our office also serves as the primary point of contact for the Technical Review Committee (TRC), a committee composed of various City, County and State personnel that reviews plans for new major subdivisions, multi-family development, and commercial/institutional projects.
