To honor the vital role honey bees play in keeping our community healthy and thriving, the Appearance Commission is installing bee sculptures throughout the city.

Installed Bee Sculptures

Bee Sculpture at City Hall
Artist: Chris Dalton
Location: Sanford Municipal Center, 225 E. Weatherspoon Street, Sanford NC

Inspiration: The sculpture features mosaic tiles, which turn reflected light into movement, bringing a dynamism to the still sculpture. Together with shimmering wings, this piece is meant to delight the viewer relying only on natural resources.

Bee Sculpture at Depot Park

Location: Depot Park, 106 Charlotte Ave, Sanford NC

Inspiration: The mason bee. Mason bees are gentle and solitary super pollinators, making them beneficial for gardens and agriculture.

Location: Pollinator Garden in Chatham Street Parking Lot, 115 Chatham Street, Sanford NC

Inspiration: Flora and fauna native to central North Carolina. The base is painted to look like pine straw.
