[ARCHIVED] City of Sanford to Open All Municipal Parks

parks

On Sept. 1, 2020, Gov. Roy Cooper issued Executive Order No. 163 “Revised Prohibitions and Restrictions to Protect Lives in Responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic,” which moves North Carolina into Phase 2.5 of re-opening effective Friday, Sept. 4 at 5:00 p.m.

The Executive Order removes restrictions on playgrounds, which includes the eight parks owned or operated by the City of Sanford.

Therefore, at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the following parks and playgrounds will re-open to the public: Depot Park, the playground at Kiwanis Family Park, Walter McNeil Jr. Park, Third Street Park, Maple Avenue Park, Carr Creek Park, Sunset Park, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

The Endor Iron Furnace Greenway and Kiwanis Family Park walking trails have remained open to the public.

The Kiwanis Family Park Splash Pad will remain closed at this time.

The City of Sanford encourages the public to wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash hands frequently.
