[ARCHIVED] Service Offsite Solutions selects Sanford for New Facility

Service Offsite Solutions

Service Offsite Solutions (SOS), a building products company headquartered in Raleigh, NC, will open a new facility in Lee County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company plans to occupy a newly constructed state-of-the art, 240,000 square foot manufacturing, warehouse and distribution facility in Lee County, creating 235 jobs at an average annual salary of more than $50,400. The total investment at the site will be $11.8 million dollars.

Service Offsite Solutions offers factory-built, precision framing components providing comprehensive solutions for home builders. These products bring greater consistency, lower costs and higher quality while also significantly reducing cycle time. The company’s unique processes and high-tech equipment allows for less than 2 millimeters of tolerance from ridge to ground constructed on site in less than 48 hours, reducing framing times from 12 days to 2 days.

Lee County Board of Commissioners Chair Kirk Smith: “We heartily welcome Service Offsite Solutions to Lee County – helping us to grow our local advanced manufacturing sector.  With Lee County’s location in the heart of North Carolina, placing us in close proximity to one of the largest home building markets in the US, this move will help further accelerate the impact of SOS on our county, state, and country. The company’s investment will positively impact our community and broaden our tax base truly making Lee County a place to live, learn, work, and play.”

Sanford Mayor Chet Mann: “Congratulations to Eddie, Jeff and the team at SOS on this great announcement. The City of Sanford is thrilled to welcome such a high achieving, top quality enterprise focused on the future of the homebuilding process. Our team at the City works hard every day to create a business-friendly environment where companies and their employees can live, work, and flourish.  Their decision to join our community continues to support our Open for Business Agenda.  This announcement is continuing validation of that effort.  Best wishes and a heartfelt welcome to Sanford.”

Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) Board of Directors Chair April Montgomery: “The Sanford Area Growth Alliance enthusiastically welcomes SOS to the Sanford-Lee County family of businesses, where public and private sectors work together to increase diverse opportunities for the local workforce and improve the quality of life for our citizens.”

SAGA CEO Jimmy Randolph: “With their decision to locate a new facility on Colon Road in Sanford, SOS adds another asset to Lee County’s advanced manufacturing cluster. Their innovative operation will support our region’s residential construction industry provide more high quality, affordable housing for our growing workforce.”

In addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, other key partners in the project include Tri Properties, Norfolk Southern Railroad, the North Carolina Railroad Company, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the North Carolina Community College System, Duke Energy, Lee County and the City of Sanford.
