The City of Sanford is holding a public workshop on Thursday, September 26, from 6pm to 8pm at First Presbyterian Church’s Harper Center to gather feedback from the community on the Downtown Small Area Plan.
The plan will serve as a comprehensive guide for development in Downtown Sanford over the next 15 to 20 years. The goal for the plan is to “foster economic growth and encourage high quality land development,” says David Montgomery, the City’s long-range planner.
The City hopes to hear from residents, business owners, property owners, and the broader Sanford community to create a shared vision for the future of the downtown area. The final plan will include recommendations on urban design and public space, parking, transportation and mobility, and development regulations.
The City has also created a survey to provide an opportunity for respondents to share their thoughts about the future of Downtown Sanford and adjacent neighborhoods. Take the survey here.
Staff encourages the public to participate in both input opportunities. See all information on the Downtown Plan here and follow the process on the City’s projects hub.
Note that First Presbyterian Church is located at 203 Hawkins Avenue in Sanford. The entrance to the Harper Center is behind the church.
