[ARCHIVED] City of Sanford, SAGA Partner with Parkdale Mills to Give Away 5,000 Free Masks

The City of Sanford and the Sanford Area Growth Alliance are partnering with Parkdale Mills to give away free masks at the Parkdale facility on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

This rain-or-shine event is part of Parkdale Mills’ I Wear, I Care campaign to encourage the public to wear masks and to provide essential protection to the community. The company will give away up to 5,000 masks with a limit of five masks per vehicle.

At the event, Parkdale Mills will also offer a job fair where the community can apply for open positions. The job fair will be separate from the mask event to ensure social distancing guidelines are observed. For more information about current job openings, visit www.parkdalemills.com and select “careers.”

“Giving free masks to the community is important to our company,” says Andy Warlick, CEO of Parkdale Mills, who initiated the campaign. “We want to create positive reinforcement in the community to help get past this pandemic.”

As part of the I Wear, I Care campaign, Parkdale Mills will donate a mask for every mask purchased from its website. The company also allows users to send masks directly to an organization in need and is hosting drive-through mask giveaway events in cities throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.

“We are excited for this opportunity to partner with our business community to help get masks into the hands of those who need them,” says Mayor Chet Mann. “Working together to protect everyone is the best way to slow this pandemic and recover our economy.”

“Parkdale Mills has long been an important part of Sanford and Lee County’s diverse manufacturing base, and their recent pivot to mask production in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is yet another example of the nimbleness and innovation that allow them to continue to prosper right here in the USA,” says Jimmy Randolph, CEO of the Sanford Area Growth Alliance. “SAGA and its existing industry program are excited to participate in Parkdale Mill’s I Wear, I Care free mask and hiring event.”

Parkdale Mills has produced and distributed over 100 million masks to help support essential workers and first responders. To purchase or donate an I Wear, I Care mask, visit www.parkdaleppe.com.
