Mayor Rebecca Salmon has issued a declaration rescinding the State of Emergency enacted in preparation for extreme winter weather.
The State of Emergency declaration was signed on Friday, January 23, 2026, in preparation for hazardous conditions expected from Winter Storm Fern, including ice accumulation, power outages, downed trees, and access obstacles for emergency responders.
By declaring a State of Emergency, the City of Sanford was authorized to take all actions necessary to maintain the public order or provide for the protection of lives, safety, or property, as needed. No conditions or restrictions were imposed.
The declaration of recension goes into effect immediately.
