[ARCHIVED] City of Sanford Administrative Offices Closed Wednesday

Offices Closed

The City of Sanford’s administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, due to the wintry precipitation expected for our area.

Public Works crews have been pretreating high-risk areas, such as City-maintained overpasses, bridges, and shaded streets, in preparation for possible snow, sleet, or freezing rain.

Two 12-hour shift crews are on standby and ready to assist as needed. Our team is equipped with the necessary resources, including plows, spreaders, and around 70 tons of salt and sand mixture on site available. Note that the City cannot plow ice. Plows will be deployed if snow accumulation exceeds one inch.

Curbside collection: GFL will begin collection schedules early on Wednesday at 5:30 AM to stay ahead of trash and recycle routes. If services are suspended early due to weather conditions, GFL will resume services on Thursday, starting where they left off. Updates will be provided if that decision is made.

The City of Sanford’s leaf, limb, and bulk trash collection crews will not operate. They will resume collection on their regular schedule, as conditions allow.

Recreation: The Sanford Municipal Golf Course covered their greens today and will not hold the Tough Day Golf Tournament this Saturday due to the freezing temperatures and precipitation. Staff expects to uncover the greens on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Call 919-777-1901 to check course availability or reserve a tee time.

Public safety: The Sanford Police Department and Sanford Fire Department will operate as usual. In case of life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1. For other urgent concerns, such as downed trees or flooding in public roadways, call 919-775-8268.

Follow Lee County Emergency Management for updates on the storm’s timing, impacts, and road conditions.
