The City of Sanford has received the following Zoning Map Amendment (rezoning request) and would like to invite you to attend an informal public information meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers of the Sanford Municipal Center located at 225 E. Weatherspoon Street, Sanford, NC 27330. At the meeting, Planning staff will explain the review process and the applicant’s representative(s) will be available to answer questions regarding the rezoning request. The purpose of this meeting is to allow for an informal discussion of the rezoning petition by all interested parties prior to the public hearing, which is scheduled for January 18, 2022.
ZONING MAP AMENDMENT / REZONING APPLICATION CASE 2022-0103
Application by Mark Lyczkowski to amend the Village of Cumnock Conditional Zoning District to decrease the area designated as Highway Commercial (HC) and Office & Institutional (O&I) by 14 +/- acres and to increase the area designated as residential (R-6, R-8, R-10, and R-12) by 14 +/- acres as illustrated on the Village of Cumnock Conceptual Development Plan submitted as part of the application. The subject property includes two tracts of land totaling 210.1 acres located in the northwestern corner of the US Hwy 421 Bypass and Cumnock Road (SR 1400) intersection. The site is east of Deep River, west of Cumnock Road, and was labeled as “West” on the concept plan approved in 2021. It is owned by the Village of Cumnock, LLC and is identified as Lee County Tax Parcels 9625-75-1532-00 and 9625-63-6695-00, as depicted on Lee County Tax Map 9625.04 and 9625.02.
The rezoning application is on file in the Sanford/Lee County Zoning & Design Review Department located at 115 Chatham Street, Sanford, NC and may be viewed weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
